Emma-Jane Barrett

Hello and welcome to EmJayBe: an introduction to the things I do and the projects I'm working on.

I may be a busy single parent to four but I'm also incredibly passionate about my work and constantly inspired and motivated to help people. Broadly, my focus is behaviour support with a specialist interest in neurodivergence. All the work that I do has a focus on driving progress in these two areas as a fundamental underlying theme.

Feel free to have a look around to learn more about me and what I do. If you have any questions or maybe a project you'd like to collaborate on, please do get in touch.

"Emma-Jane made me feel seen at a time when I was almost at breaking point, trying to get support but constantly hitting brick walls. Her approach is invaluable and something that all parents should have access to." - Parent
"I don't know what it is exactly about your approach that is different, I just know that it works." - One of Emma-Jane's young people

Connection More Than Control

This is not just another parenting book. Connection More Than Control is written by someone you can actually relate to because as a working single parent to four (four in four years with twins), this is a parent who has been there, seen it, done it and got the fridge magnet.

This book is a collection of the information that I wish I had known ten years ago. Having a master's degree, work experience in education and sixteen years of parenting behind me, this book explains the things that I've learned and applied over the years. This is information that completely changed my approach and transformed how I connect with my 'young people'.

There is no right or wrong and Connection More Than Control is not a theory, it's an approach. A perspective shift that seeks to respect, understand and connect generations because nothing changes if nothing changes.

Consultancy

As a Behaviour Consultant, I run a private practice two days a week.

I offer support to individuals, parents/carers and education settings in understanding behaviour presentations, identifying needs and designing person-led provisions.

Sessions run on a Monday and Friday and I also offer some out of hours availability upon request.

Charity Work

Every year I do a fundraising event for a charity. I've completed many events for various charities in the past with plans to run the London marathon and take on the Three Peaks Challenge. Beyond that, Kilimanjaro is on the list too!

You can follow my training progress on Instagram (@emjaytherunner) where I'll also be posting updates about my current challenge as well as links to donate.

Supporting charities and families

Charity and community support are core values of mine, and I am passionate about working alongside a range of organisations to help make a positive difference for families, children and young people.

I enjoy collaborating with charities in a variety of ways, including providing advice and support around behaviour, parenting and neurodiversity, delivering training, and contributing to projects that help families feel more understood and supported.

I am always open to discussing new opportunities to work with charities and community organisations. Please get in touch if you would like to find out more about how we could work together.

Giving back is very important to me, and I also make a donation to charity for every copy of my book sold.

Community

It's really important to me that individuals and parents/carers not only have a voice but that their comments are listened to, respected, valued and actioned.

One of the projects that I have planned for the future is to develop a platform to enable people to share their lived experiences.

More on this project as it develops!
